Getting Mysoft Moving!

Getting Mysoft Moving!

Mysoft's Get Fit Initiative! For everyday (per week) an employee cycles to work, completes 10,000 steps or swims 5K, Mysoft will donate £5 to charity.

Working in an office it can be difficult to ensure we’re keeping a healthy balance between our time spent sitting down and our time on the move.

It has been proven that a healthy workforce is also a happier and more efficient workforce, so the Mysoft Directors have introduced a “Get fit” initiative! For everyday (per week) an employee cycles to work, completes 10,000 steps on a verified app or swims 5K, Mysoft will donate £5 to a charity of choice. So, Mysoft team, time to put down the laptop, dust off those trainers/ googles and get moving!

If you need some more encouragement, here are some reasons exercise not only benefits your physical health but can actually help you to be more productive at work…

You'll Live Longer

Exercise reduces your risk of major illnesses, such as heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and cancer by up to 50% and lowers your risk of early death by up to 30%. If you want to make sure you’re living long into your hard worked for retirement, then keep moving! (Source: https://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/fitness/Pages/whybeactive.aspx)

Your Mental Health Will Benefit

It’s medically proven that people who regularly exercise have up to a 30% lower risk of depression and that exercise releases stress busting endorphins. Exercise helps to relax the muscles and relieve tension in the body. So, next time you’re feeling nervous about a meeting or worried about a deadline, why not go for a walk, increase that heartrate and watch those stress levels go down.

You'll Be Smarter

Exercise makes you smarter! We’re not saying you’re going to go for a run and suddenly become the next Einstein… But, the same endorphins that make you feel better after exercise also help you concentrate and feel mentally sharp, as well as stimulating the growth of new brain cells. You'll Sleep Better

That tough project keeping you up at night? Exercise is medically proven to help people sleep better and tackle insomnia. Tiring out your body as well as your mind encourages sleep, implementing a regular routing of exercise also encourages a regular pattern of sleep.

Maintaining A Healthy Weight

Regular exercise helps to control weight and reduce the risk of obesity. By eating healthily and upping physical activity, burning more calories than you are taking in, you will naturally lose weight.

It doesn’t take much to start reaping the health benefits of exercise, the NHS recommends 150 minutes of moderate exercise a week (Source: https://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/fitness/pages/physical-activity-guidelines-for-adults.aspx). By walking for an hour a couple of days a week or cycling to work then you can easily rack up those minutes and hit the Mysoft goal for raising your £5 for charity! So, Mysoft team, time to step away from those desks, get active and stay healthy!
