Over the summer we ran a charity fitness scheme, to encourage the team to get active and also raise some money for charity!
The scheme ran for 5 months over the summer, from April to September, with £5 donated to charity for every week a member of staff walked 10,000 steps, cycled to work or swam 5 kilometres. The whole team did amazingly, with a fantastic total of £920 raised!
We asked the team to nominate charities that they would like the funds to be donated to. We ended up with 4 very worthwhile charities, including Age UK, Battersea Dogs Home, British Heart Foundation and Macmillan; the £920 was split evenly amongst the 4. Everyone really threw themselves into the initiative, with lunchtime walks, evening cycles and even a few morning swims before work! There’s nothing like a bit of competition to encourage everyone to get involved, with an award going for the person who clocked up the most fitness donations!
At the halfway point it was looking pretty close, with Debbie, Angela and Lizzie doing well on the step count and Kieron consistently cycling in every week. The Project Management team were putting in a strong representation for Mysoft in the pool and even Chris strapped on his cycling shoes to make his commute a bit more active! Brendan was also consistently doing well with his step count and runs.
With a few weeks to go Debbie, Angela and Lizzie had almost completed every week of their 10,000 steps and Kieron had cycled into work every week as well. With the finish line in sight, Brendan submitted weeks’ worth of data to blow the other step counts out the water and win hands down! He was closely followed by Debbie in second place for steps and Kieron won the cycling with the most amount of cycles into work.
It was great to see everyone getting involved and raising a brilliant sum of money for all 4 charities.
