How does it feel reaching the 10 year milestone?

Well it feels fantastic really. Brendan and I are very proud of the team we have built and it is the team that have enabled us to grow and develop. Time is a funny thing really, it feels like yesterday that we started the company but when I think of how much has happened it does seem like a long time ago. All in all it has been a very positive 10 years.

What would you say is Mysoft’s greatest achievement?

The hardest thing in the sector we work in is being able to recruit the right people. So being able to look around us and see the skills and expertise our team have is the biggest achievement for me. We built Mysoft around the ethos of looking after our customers and looking after our employees. Right from the very beginning that was key for us, we have always felt that if you get that right the rest will follow.

What advice would you give someone starting their own software company?

I think there is a common mistake in business where a lot of people think the most important thing is having a completely unique idea. Starting your own business is more about doing whatever it is you decide to do to the best of your ability. And to do it better than the competition. The most important thing is to believe that you can do it. You’ve got to be prepared for some difficult situations and to stick with your business when things get tough. Another lesson to learn is that you can’t do everything on your own, you will have to employ people that are specialist in areas that you’re not and accept that they know more than you!

If you could go back in time and tell your 10 years younger self one thing, what would it be?

Luck favours the brave. Don’t waste time and stick at it. Make sure every day you are pushing forward a bit more. That’s more like three things but I think all three are relevant!

What have you enjoyed about the last 10 years?

Seeing the business flourish, having a baby and getting married. Not necessarily in that order though!
