On Friday 27th of September the Mysoft team joined the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
In 2015 there was an estimated 2.5 million people living with a cancer diagnosis in the UK. It is expected that by 2030 this will have risen to around 4 million. Macmillan provide physical, financial and emotional support for those living with cancer – “Right there with you”. All of us at Myosft believe that this is a very worthy cause that has the potential to positively impact many people around the country.
In full Mysoft fashion, we turned our Coffee Morning into a Bake Off to add an element of fun and a touch of competition!
7 members of the team entered into the Bake Off with the hope of winning. There was plenty of fighting talk in the weeks leading up – some taking it rather more seriously than others! On the day, a plethora of sweet treats were on offer from traditional South African koeksisters, to controversial Lotus Biscoff cupcakes, and even homemade apple jam to accompany one of the bakes. At 12pm on Friday, eating began… shortly followed by a sugar coma. The team scored each bake on taste, appearance, technical ability and originality on a scale of 1 to 10.
Once the judging had been completed and everyone had recovered from the overload of carbs and sugar, the scores were added up.
And the winner is…
Courgette and Zesty Cake by Lucy Robson, our Project Assistant!
The cake was 4 tiers high made using home grown courgettes and homemade candied lemons to finish! Lucy even made mini courgettes out of sugar paste to decorate the sides of the cake. One person commented saying, “This is a great way to eat vegetables”!
Mysoft raised a brilliant £163.50 for Macmillan! A big thank you to everyone in the team who donated, a great result! The team thoroughly enjoyed themselves, plus, who doesn’t love an excuse to eat cake on a Friday?
