Sage Intacct R2 2026 | Update Summary

Sage Intacct 2026 Release 2 introduces a broad range of enhancements designed to help finance teams improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and reduce manual administration across everyday processes. The release continues Sage’s focus on automation, usability, AI-driven innovation, and operational visibility, while also delivering practical improvements for purchasing, reporting, fixed assets, inventory, and accounts payable workflows.

For UK organisations, many of these changes will be particularly valuable for businesses managing multi-entity operations, growing transaction volumes, increasingly complex approval requirements, or tighter compliance expectations. Rather than introducing dramatic process changes, this release builds on existing capabilities to help teams work more efficiently with the tools they already use every day.

Smarter Finance Automation

Intelligent 3-Way Matching for AP Teams

One of the most significant updates in this release is the enhancement to AP Automation through intelligent 3-way matching. Sage Intacct can now compare purchase orders, goods received records, and supplier invoices at line level rather than simply matching document totals.

For finance teams processing high invoice volumes, this reduces the amount of manual checking required while improving accuracy and exception handling. A manufacturing business receiving partial deliveries from suppliers can now identify quantity or pricing discrepancies automatically before invoices are approved, helping the AP team focus only on transactions that genuinely need review.

Improved AP Automation Workflows

Additional AP Automation improvements also make invoice processing more flexible and user-friendly, including easier bill uploads and improved transaction review screens.

The release also introduces more detailed multi-currency payment posting visibility. Finance teams can now clearly distinguish between invoice currency and payment currency, making reconciliation easier for organisations managing overseas suppliers or foreign currency bank accounts.

Greater Flexibility in Purchasing and Approvals

Custom Purchasing Approval Rules

Sage Intacct 2026 R2 introduces Early Adopter functionality for custom purchasing approvals, giving organisations more control over how purchasing transactions are routed for approval.

Approval workflows can now be configured using combinations of supplier attributes, transaction values, payment priority, or other business rules. This allows businesses to create more realistic approval structures that reflect operational requirements rather than relying on overly simplistic thresholds.

A growing services organisation may require routine operational purchases under £5,000 to route directly to departmental managers, while supplier payments linked to capital expenditure or priority vendors are escalated automatically to finance leadership. The result is stronger governance without introducing unnecessary bottlenecks.

Better Audit Visibility Across Purchasing

The structured approval history also improves audit visibility, particularly for organisations operating within regulated sectors or formal procurement frameworks.

Finance leaders gain clearer oversight of approval decisions and purchasing accountability without increasing administrative complexity for operational teams.

Stronger Financial Control and Month-End Efficiency

Simplified Fixed Asset Depreciation

The latest release includes several useful updates within Fixed Assets Management designed to simplify month-end processing and improve financial control.

Finance teams can now summarise depreciation postings where assets share the same accounting attributes, reducing the number of journals generated and simplifying reconciliation processes. Organisations with large asset registers, such as property groups, educational institutions, or construction businesses, can significantly reduce ledger volume and reporting complexity.

More Flexible Asset Management

Another valuable addition is the ability to split a single asset into multiple assets while retaining depreciation history. A business purchasing integrated equipment that later needs to be tracked separately for insurance, disposal, or maintenance purposes can now manage this directly within Sage Intacct rather than relying on manual adjustments.

Additional updates include depreciation reversal capabilities, improved handling of partial disposals, and more flexible construction-in-progress capitalisation controls.

Together, these enhancements help finance teams reduce manual corrections while improving audit readiness and reporting accuracy.

Better Visibility Across Inventory and Operations

Centralised Inventory Attachments

Several operational enhancements in this release focus on improving inventory visibility, tracking, and control.

Businesses can now centralise inventory item attachments directly within item records. This allows teams to store specification sheets, installation guides, supplier documentation, or compliance certificates alongside the relevant inventory item.

For organisations managing large product catalogues or technical inventory, this removes the need to search across shared drives or external systems. A field service business dispatching engineers with specialist parts can now ensure product instructions and compliance documents are consistently accessible from within Sage Intacct itself.

More Secure Inventory Transfers

The release also improves warehouse transfer tracking with enhanced in-transit inventory controls. Businesses operating across multiple warehouse locations can now track inventory movements more securely and accurately throughout the transfer process, helping reduce stock discrepancies and improve operational visibility.

This is particularly valuable for organisations managing distributed warehouse operations or high-value inventory items.

Practical Billing and Customer Communication Enhancements

More Flexible Billing Groups

Sage Intacct 2026 R2 introduces several useful updates to billing groups and customer communications that help simplify recurring billing processes.

Users can now manage individual charges more flexibly within billing groups, while invoice runs across multiple billing groups can be viewed in a single consolidated list. Semi-monthly and end-of-month billing schedules are also now supported.

For subscription businesses, service organisations, or companies with complex customer charging models, these updates provide greater flexibility without increasing administrative effort.

Controlled Customer Communication Settings

Another practical improvement is the introduction of controlled sender and reply-to email addresses for Order Entry communications. Rather than relying on free-text email entry, organisations can define approved sender addresses centrally.

This helps maintain brand consistency and reduces the risk of incorrect or unauthorised customer communications, particularly in organisations where multiple teams generate customer-facing documents.

AI, Platform, and Administration Enhancements

Introducing the Sage Intacct AI Gateway

This release introduces the Sage Intacct AI Gateway, providing secure connectivity between Sage Intacct and external AI tools through REST API and MCP Server technology.

While many organisations are still evaluating practical AI use cases, the new gateway lays the foundation for future integrations involving AI-driven reporting, data analysis, workflow automation, and financial insights.

Stronger Governance and User Management

Alongside AI developments, Sage Intacct has introduced several administration improvements designed to strengthen governance and simplify system management.

The new Roles Permissions Report provides administrators with a clearer view of user access and permissions across the platform, helping support compliance reviews and audit preparation. Enhanced external user management, email domain validation, and attachment security controls further strengthen platform governance.

These changes will be particularly valuable for growing organisations managing larger user bases or operating within stricter compliance environments.

Reporting, Usability, and User Adoption ImprovementsAI, Platform, and Administration Enhancements

Enhanced Financial Reporting Visibility

Sage Intacct 2026 Release 2 also includes several updates focused on reporting visibility and operational insight.

Project and Grant financial summaries now provide improved currency visibility and conversion handling, making reporting easier for organisations operating internationally or managing multi-currency projects.

New reporting objects and expanded reporting areas also improve flexibility for finance teams building custom reports and dashboards.

Improved User Experience and Training Resources

Updates to the user interface continue Sage’s gradual refinement of navigation and screen layouts to improve usability across the platform.

Training resources and product guidance have also been expanded, helping users adopt new functionality more quickly and confidently.

For many organisations, these smaller usability improvements often have the greatest long-term impact by reducing friction in everyday processes and improving overall user experience.
