Mysoft Supports The RGS Guildford Bursary Programme.

In October 2025, RGS Guildford held a Giving Day to raise funds for its Bursary Programme. Mysoft made a significant donation to the appeal, given on the company’s behalf by CEO Chris Schafer, to support the education of talented students whose families couldn’t otherwise afford the fees.

Helping more young people access opportunities based on their potential, regardless of their financial circumstances.

The RGS giving day.

The RGS Giving Day 2025 brought together the whole RGS community, with current and former students, parents and staff taking part in ‘challenges’ and helping to raise £72,686 for the Bursary Programme.

Founded in 1509 as a ‘free schole’, the RGS has a long tradition of widening access to education. Today, 71 students receive bursary support, helping to ensure that an RGS education remains open to those with the ability to benefit from it, regardless of their financial circumstances.

These students make the most of an RGS education and go on to contribute in many different fields, from medicine and the civil service to environmental sciences and philanthropy. Support for the RGS Bursary Programme creates a ripple effect as students make a positive impact on the lives of others.

28 hours to raise over £70,000.

The Giving Day was a true community event run over 28 hours of fundraising. The School created a series of House Challenges designed to involve everyone, from the Cycling Challenge and House Captains’ Egg’n’Spoon Race to the First Form reading challenge and alumni Big Band Challenge. The School shared films of the challenge events to bring the Giving Day to life and encourage our community to make a gift.

The Giving Day became a House competition on a global scale. Donors were invited to choose their House when making a gift, bringing a sense of friendly competition, camaraderie and House pride to the campaign and reconnecting former students with the traditions of their school days.

The Giving Day is just one part of the wider RGS Bursary Programme, which aims to ensure that an RGS education is accessible to students with the ability to benefit from it, regardless of their financial circumstances. Every gift directly supports the education of those students on a bursary.

"In recognition of everything The RGS has done over the years to champion education and opportunity for all students.”

Why bursaries matter.

A bursary is the difference between an RGS education being possible or not. It gives a talented student the opportunity to learn alongside their peers, discover their strengths and make the most of the opportunities available to them.

Bursary support also strengthens the RGS itself. It brings together pupils from different circumstances and backgrounds and ensures that ability, ambition and character determine entry into the School.

For those who benefit, a bursary is more than financial assistance. It is an opportunity to make the most of what an RGS education has to offer.

Why Mysoft chose to support the programme.

Mysoft’s donation was made on the company’s behalf by CEO Chris Schafer. We wanted to support an initiative focused on giving young people more opportunities and helping them make the most of their abilities.

The value of a bursary reaches beyond the classroom. It can give a student the chance to try something new, find a subject they love, build friendships and grow in confidence throughout their time at school.

We’re proud to support The RGS Bursary Programme and the work it does to help students access those experiences. We look forward to hearing more about the programme and the young people it supports.

"“We’re really proud to support The RGS Bursary Programme and help create opportunities for talented young people, regardless of their financial circumstances. It’s a pleasure to contribute to a programme that helps students develop their potential and build a positive future.”"
