A Personal Reflection from David Frith: The Call That Started It All

Written By David Frith:

In May 2026, we mark 25 years since a moment that, at the time, felt like just another conversation — but would ultimately help shape the future of Mysoft.

Back in 2001, I was working at Adonix UK in Evesham when I received a call from the Director of XKO Software. He was following up on some marketing material sent by my manager about an ERP solution called Adonix X3. XKO was exploring its next move and considering X3 as a potential replacement for its existing product.

It was a straightforward call. But it was also the beginning of something much bigger.

Building Early Momentum

That initial conversation led to XKO signing a distribution agreement with Adonix in Paris, supported by our UK team. At the time, we were still early in our own journey with X3, but a strong partnership quickly formed. We began working closely with the XKO team — and remarkably, several of those key individuals are still part of Mysoft today.

By early 2002, things were moving quickly. Training was underway, pre-sales activity had begun, and there was a real sense of momentum. I remember working together on early opportunities and hosting prospect visits to the UK’s first X3 site just days after go-live.

It was an exciting time — full of energy, belief, and the shared feeling that we were building something important.

From Uncertainty to Opportunity

Of course, as with many business journeys, the path wasn’t entirely smooth. A series of decisions at XKO led to significant changes within the organisation, and several key people moved on. But from that period of uncertainty came a new beginning: the foundation of Mysoft.

For us at Adonix UK, the decision was easy. We were delighted to continue working with this new venture, and the partnership only grew stronger from there.

The Sage X3 Journey Evolves

In 2005, Adonix was acquired by Sage. Initially, Sage UK did not focus heavily on X3, so Mysoft continued working closely with Sage France and the wider international network. Over time, as the product evolved and gained traction, Sage UK took a more active role — leading to the position we recognise today.

A Personal Chapter

As for my own journey, I remained with Sage well beyond what I had once imagined would be my retirement. In 2019, during a period of change within the consultancy team, I found myself at a crossroads. Fortunately, several long-standing colleagues and friends at Mysoft stepped in with a simple but compelling idea: perhaps it wasn’t quite time to stop.

Joining Mysoft was a privilege, and it has proved to be a deeply rewarding chapter to round off my career.

Looking Back — and Ahead

Looking back, it’s remarkable to think that a single phone call in 2001 could set all of this in motion. At the time, it was simply part of the day-to-day. But with hindsight, it’s clear that some of the most important moments in our professional lives don’t announce themselves — they simply happen.

Twenty-five years on, that call still echoes.

And it serves as a reminder that the connections we make, the conversations we have, and the opportunities we choose to explore can shape far more than we realise.

Here’s to the journey so far — and to everything still to come.
