Over February and March, the Mysoft team came together to support a local cause close to our community, helping 7th Farnborough Scouts raise the funds they needed to buy new tents.
For the troop, this was about much more than replacing old equipment. Their tents play a big part in the experiences they’re able to offer young people, from camps and outdoor activities to opportunities to learn practical skills, build confidence, spend time with friends and make memories that stay with them long after the trip is over.
The Scouts themselves were at the heart of the fundraising from the very beginning. They spent a month planning and recording a short video to share with Mysoft employees, explaining why the new tents were needed, what the support would mean to them and how it would help future camps and activities continue safely and comfortably.
Their message was honest, thoughtful and hard to ignore. Some of the tent poles were broken, some of the tents had holes, and many were more than 15 years old, making them older than the Scouts using them.
What stood out most was that the Scouts didn’t simply ask for support; they put time, effort and creativity into helping make it happen. They created sweet bags to sell in the Mysoft office and set up a GoFundMe page so that remote colleagues, external workers and others outside the office could also get behind the fundraiser.
"It was lovely to see the Scouts so keen to help with the fundraising themselves. They spent time planning and recording the video to explain why we needed new tents, then came up with the idea of selling sweets. They spent two hours counting, weighing and packing the bags, and were excited to be doing something that would support the fundraising."
The response from Mysoft employees was incredible. Together, the team raised £370, with people donating, buying sweet bags and helping to spread the word across the business.
To recognise the effort behind the campaign and help take the fundraising even further, Mysoft matched the amount raised by employees, bringing the total to £740.
We then reached out to Sage to ask whether they would consider supporting the initiative too, and we were delighted when they confirmed they would match the £740 already raised, bringing the final total to over £1,400 for 7th Farnborough Scouts.
"When the fundraising began, nobody imagined it would raise as much as it did. The support from everyone at Mysoft was incredible. Mysoft Employees donated and bought sweet bags, and their kindness made such a difference. For Sage to then get behind the fundraiser and match the amount raised was just amazing. When we told the Scouts how much had been raised, they were absolutely delighted. It showed them that all the effort they had put in had really made a difference."
That money will help the troop invest in new tents, giving them safer, more reliable equipment for future camps and activities. It means more young people will be able to enjoy the outdoors, take part in new experiences and continue building the skills, confidence and independence that Scouts is known for.
For us, this fundraiser was a reminder of what can happen when people care enough to get involved. The Scouts showed real determination and creativity in their approach to the challenge; our employees responded with generosity and enthusiasm, and Sage’s support helped turn a local fundraiser into an even bigger success.
"Thanks to the money raised, we were able to buy 12 new tents, with enough left over for an electric fridge and generator, both of which had been on our wish list for years. We used everything at our 2026 camp, and it made such a difference. Thank you to everyone at Mysoft and Sage, and everyone who donated or bought sweets — we really do appreciate it."
