About The Customer

GCT (Global Connector Technology) is a global, UK-based technology company with more than four decades of expertise in designing and delivering high-quality interconnect solutions that meet demanding performance and reliability standards. Recently, the business brought together its key connector and assembly technologies—including GradConn—under the unified GCT brand, strengthening its global reach and product breadth while continuing to support diverse industries with robust connectivity solutions.

Business Challenges

GCT (Global Connector Technology) operates through multiple business units and subsidiaries across the UK, US, Hong Kong and Taiwan. As the business has grown, operational and financial processes have become increasingly difficult to manage consistently across the organisation.

A key theme was control and visibility—particularly around customer credit management and decision-making speed. GCT explained that the current approach makes it difficult to gain reliable, real-time insight into credit limits, available headroom and payment terms. Placing customers on hold is also not straightforward, meaning the credit controller produces a weekly “customers on hold” report that quickly becomes outdated and highlights the limitations of the process.

At the group level, consolidation—including monthly management consolidation—is handled in spreadsheets. The Finance Director emphasised the need for exception-based visibility, where issues are surfaced early without teams needing to search across multiple systems manually.

Alongside finance processes, GCT highlighted challenges with data duplication and the complexity of its trading model. The business manages around 35,000 items per database, creating overhead when items must be created multiple times. They also described a common electronics-industry scenario where contract manufacturers (such as Flextronics) purchase on behalf of multiple OEMs, requiring stronger ways to link entities for reporting and commercial tracking.

GCT had taken our existing ERP system as far as we could, with even the smallest change being difficult and expensive. In Sage X3, we identified an ERP that would give us a foundational reconfiguration of our business systems, providing us with the capability to grow and adapt in what is becoming a more complex world.

Key Requirements

In the discovery phase, GCT’s priority “critical issues” were captured as the capabilities they wanted the new ERP to support. These included:

  • Dynamic credit control with clearer, real-time visibility of credit limits and available headroom

  • Consolidated accounting across multiple entities and territories

  • Integrated flow of goods across the organisation

  • Integration with Salesforce

Beyond these core requirements, GCT highlighted the need for stronger financial visibility and control at both operational and group levels. This included simpler mechanisms for placing accounts on hold, improved cross-entity consolidation without spreadsheet-driven processes, and earlier exception-based insight into issues across the group. They also referenced the need for configurable workflows, development and testing sandboxes, and stock provisioning controls.

From a data and reporting perspective, the business wants to reduce item duplication—ideally creating an item once, linking multiple suppliers, and controlling which entities it applies to. Reporting is increasingly focused on Power BI rather than SSRS, alongside analysis by OEM, geography and commission structures that do not always align to standard regions. The ERP must also support complex electronics-industry trading relationships and local tax and compliance obligations, including in Taiwan.

A year after implementation, we undertook a review of the system against our original expectations, and sought satisfaction ratings from users in both our Operations and Finance Teams. The results showed 92% satisfaction for Operations and 86% satisfaction for Finance.

Benefits of Sage X3 for GCT

  • Stronger Group-Wide Visibility (Multi-Company / Multi-Territory)
    • Sage X3 supports group-level finance structures by letting you standardise the chart of accounts across companies, while still reporting differently by company or country (using different “groupings” of the same underlying accounts). It can also be configured using a “multi-ledger” approach as an alternative way to handle differing statutory/management needs across the group.
  • Reduced Duplication Through “Common Data”
    • Sage X3 includes a “common data” capability that can be configured so master data is shared across selected companies (for example, common across the GCT companies but not necessarily shared with the Graphcom company).
  • Automation Opportunities For Stock Accounting Activities
    • Sage X3 can automate stock accounting activity by scheduling how often processes run (including stock journals related to stock movements, receipts and issues). It includes a “stock accounting interface” that posts and calculates journals, and you can choose how frequently it runs (e.g., multiple times per day, daily, monthly).
  • Integration Path With Salesforce
    • Sage X3’s flexibility and connectivity enable the ERP solution to be connected to other company-critical solutions, in this case, the Salesforce CRM system, allowing seamless operations.

Sage X3 was identified as the best ERP for GCT as it provided a rock-solid foundation upon which we can build the precise functionality that we need to address the specifics of our business and address new challenges.

Why Mysoft?

GCT selected Mysoft as its implementation partner for Sage X3. As the longest-standing Sage X3 partner in the UK market, Mysoft brought extensive product knowledge, development capability and a solutions-led approach to the engagement. During the selection process, the GCT team visited Mysoft and experienced a strong and well-structured sales process that helped build confidence in the partnership. They also visited an existing Mysoft customer with a successful Sage X3 implementation, giving them first-hand insight into how the solution works in practice.

Throughout the process, relationships were built across multiple levels of both organisations, helping establish trust and alignment early on. GCT also highlighted the global commitment shown during the implementation, with Mysoft team members travelling internationally to support different sites and ensure the project progressed successfully. Combined with ongoing post-implementation support and Mysoft’s “Partner for Life” philosophy, the partnership has been designed to support both the initial project and GCT’s long-term ERP success.

During the selection process, we visited Mysoft’s offices and found the people and the sales process to be excellent. We also took advantage of Mysoft’s offer to visit one of their customer with a successful implementation, which allowed us a great many insights. We have also found that Mysoft have been hugely committed to our project, with Mysoft personnel flying to both Taiwan and Hong Kong to assist in the implementation. Ultimately, all Mysoft’s efforts were absolutely critical to achieving our goal of transitioning to Sage X3 with zero negative impacts upon our customers.
