Sage Intacct 2026 Release 3 introduces enhancements across AI and automation, reporting, Accounts Payable and Receivable, cash management, projects, construction and everyday financial processes.
For UK organisations, some of the standout developments include Smart Excel reporting, AI-driven anomaly detection within AP Automation, new multi-entity and multi-currency capabilities for Sage Professional Services Automation projects, new SEPA bank file formats and further Construction billing and retainage functionality.
AI & Automation
AI-Driven Anomaly Detection for AP Automation
AP Automation now uses AI-driven anomaly detection to identify potentially risky transactions before payment. Sage Intacct analyses vendor billing patterns and submission details to highlight unusual transaction amounts and unrecognised vendor email addresses.
The anomaly indicators appear within the Automated transactions list, allowing AP teams to prioritise transactions that may require further investigation. They are informational and do not prevent a transaction from being posted. If an invoice arrives from an email address Sage Intacct does not recognise for that vendor, the AP team can see the indicator and investigate before continuing with the transaction.
AI Agents in Sage Intacct
UK customers can also discover and use AI agents within Sage Intacct, while the Finance Intelligence Agent is being introduced through a phased Early Adopter programme.
These developments extend Sage’s use of AI within the platform, giving eligible users access to additional AI-assisted finance capabilities.
Reporting & Insights
Smart Excel Reporting – Early Adopter
Smart Excel reporting gives eligible UK Early Adopter customers a new way to build reports directly in Microsoft Excel using Sage Intacct financial data.
The financial data stays linked to the Excel report, which means it can be refreshed with current Sage Intacct information when required. Sage Intacct security permissions also continue to apply to the linked data.
A finance team that prepares recurring management reports in Excel can build those reports using linked Sage Intacct financial information and refresh the underlying figures for the next reporting period, rather than starting again with a new static export.
Further Reporting Improvements
R3 also introduces additional comparison periods for performance cards, new ICRW data-caching capabilities and the option to exclude blank pages from reports.
These are smaller enhancements, but they can help make recurring reporting easier to manage and present.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Post Multiple AR Transactions Together
Accounts Receivable users can now post multiple invoices and adjustments at the same time. This is particularly useful for finance teams preparing a batch of approved invoices, removing the need to post each transaction separately.
Organisations can also customise the sender and reply-to email addresses used for Accounts Receivable invoices and statements, giving businesses more control over where customer responses are directed.
Automate Prepaid Expense Amortisation – Early Adopter
Sage Intacct can now automate prepaid expense amortisation through an Early Adopter feature available in all regions.
Users can apply amortisation details to bill and purchasing transaction lines. Sage Intacct then creates a straight-line amortisation schedule and automatically posts the required General Ledger entries according to that schedule.
Where a business pays for a 12-month service upfront, the cost can be recognised evenly over the relevant accounting periods rather than being tracked through a separate spreadsheet and recurring manual journal entries.
Customer Refund Processing
R3 also introduces streamlined customer refund processing through Accounts Payable, alongside further AP improvements.
Cash, General Ledger & Fixed Assets
New SEPA Version 9.0 Bank File Formats
New bank file formats support SEPA Version 9.0 for electronic payments to vendors and employees.
The formats are designed for accounts using euro (EUR) and map debtor and creditor addresses to the SEPA v09 hybrid format. This gives UK organisations operating EUR bank accounts and making SEPA payments an additional supported option within Sage Intacct.
Simpler General Ledger Workflows
General Ledger configuration has been streamlined, with easier access to journal entry approvals. Users can also access journal entry templates more quickly.
Finance teams using standard templates for recurring entries, such as monthly accruals, can get to the tools they need more directly as part of their regular accounting processes.
Fixed Assets Management
R3 adds the ability to reverse asset disposals and revert summarised depreciation postings. The Fixed Assets Roll Forward report also supports additional dimensions and fields.
These enhancements give finance teams more flexibility when reviewing and correcting asset activity, while also providing more options when analysing fixed asset information.
Billing, Contracts & Projects
Preview Invoices for Billing Groups
A new workflow allows users to preview invoices for billing groups before proceeding, while also supporting Revenue Management through draft invoice generation.
For billing teams managing grouped transactions, this creates an opportunity to review the proposed invoice before completing the billing process and check that the information is correct first.
Multi-Entity and Multi-Currency Support for Sage PSA Projects
For UK organisations using Sage Professional Services Automation (PSA), R3 introduces new multi-entity and multi-currency capabilities between Sage PSA and Sage Intacct.
Sage PSA projects can be synchronised with Sage Intacct entities and clients when projects are created. Project currencies can also remain synchronised between the two products, and Sage PSA Forecast now supports the wider Sage Intacct currency catalogue.
This is particularly useful for professional services organisations working across more than one entity or currency, helping keep project information aligned between Sage PSA and Sage Intacct.
Greater Contract Invoice Transparency
Contracts also gain improvements designed to provide greater transparency for usage-based and quantity-based invoices.
Sage Intacct Construction
Automated Retainage Holding on Primary Documents
Sage Intacct Construction introduces advanced retainage functionality that allows organisations to define and assign automated retainage withholding rules on primary documents.
The functionality supports simple and advanced retainage methods, including multi-tiered or stepped calculations. Users can also preview advanced retainage calculations before posting an invoice, and an audit log records the calculation details after posting.
A construction business working with a contract that requires different retainage rates at different stages can configure those rules within Sage Intacct rather than relying solely on manual tracking outside the system.
Enhanced Project Contract Billing – Early Adopter
An Early Adopter enhancement to project contract billing provides greater flexibility for billing project expenses across periods and invoices.
R3 also includes an Early Adopter subcontractor payment application workflow and the ability to view the history of cost forecast details within Work in Progress management for eligible Construction customers.
Platform & Everyday Usability
Updated Global Navigation
Sage has updated global navigation to bring Sage products and tools together within the user experience.
R3 also introduces user-account email verification, console-level email domain validation, additional imports through the Sage Intacct import service and new permissions.
Purchasing Improvements
Purchasing receives expanded approval criteria for Custom Purchasing approvals through Early Adopter, custom sender and reply-to email addresses for Purchasing communications, and support for the new prepaid expense amortisation functionality.
AI-driven anomaly detection is also available for transactions processed through Purchasing as part of AP Automation.
More Flexible Supplies Inventory
Sage Intacct now allows organisations to use Supplies Inventory without requiring negative inventory sales transactions to be restricted.
The new Adjust and issue exception workflow is specifically designed to deal with timing gaps where supplies physically exist but their receipt has not yet been recorded in Sage Intacct. It is not intended to correct inventory discrepancies or create stock that does not physically exist.
If supplies have already arrived at a site and need to be issued before the receipt transaction has been entered, the new workflow can accommodate that timing difference while maintaining the appropriate system transactions.
Why Sage Intacct R3 Matters
Sage Intacct 2026 R3 combines larger developments such as Smart Excel reporting and AI-driven anomaly detection with practical improvements to AP, AR, Fixed Assets, General Ledger, Construction and billing.
For UK organisations, the release also includes specific developments such as Smart Excel reporting for Early Adopters, Sage PSA multi-entity and multi-currency project support, new SEPA bank file formats and a range of Construction enhancements.
The result is a release focused on helping finance teams access information more easily, automate appropriate processes and maintain stronger visibility across financial and operational activity.
