To support success of our ambitious growth plans, we have identified the need for an experienced Marketing professional to take the reins of our Marketing function. The successful job holder will take a lead role in determining and implementing the marketing strategy to generate leads to help meet our business objectives. It’s a fantastic opportunity to make a significant impact with a high degree of autonomy.
Reporting into the Sales & Marketing Director, the successful job holder will form a team of two and have line management responsibility for the Marketing Executive. We’re flexible on working days and hours – the role is could be done on a full or part-time basis, (20 to 37.5 hours per week), ideally worked over five days, but we’re flexible, so a great opportunity for someone seeking a better worklife balance!
Key Areas of Activity
- Determine, plan and execute comprehensive marketing strategies that align with our Sales and business objectives, including on our omni-channel environment (webs, social, events, traditional), marketing campaigns, website development, PPC, public relations, competitors and events.
- Creation of clear ROI models for investments in Marketing activity (e.g., events, paid advertisement, etc.), including production of a quarterly ROI report using standard metrics and assessment against goals.
- Determine and deploy successful marketing campaigns from ideation to execution including content, cadence, allocation of resources and monitoring campaign performance, and the analysis of data to make data-driven decisions to optimise results.
- Identify and determine projects to support the marketing strategy, including business case and budget, supported by data, factoring in internal and external resources to industry standard best practice. Evaluation of project success, budgetary compliance and efficacy.
- Develop and maintain business relationships, working closely with key stakeholders across all departments to align marketing activities with overall business objectives in addition to external vendors, agencies, and partners.
- Ideate brand concept, maintaining brand integrity and coherence, continually review and evaluate to assess for currency and competitiveness. Ensure consistency in messaging, visual identity, and tone across all marketing materials and channels.
- Preparation and monitoring of the marketing budget on a quarterly and annual basis and the wise allocation of funds in line with business outcomes and requirements.
- Manage marketing contracts including identification and sourcing of external suppliers, negotiation and sign-off of the commercials in line with budget, and monitoring performance through to renegotiation or termination.
- Management of the Sage Marketing Development Fund (MDF), evaluation of the criteria and availability, aligning utilisation to strategic goals, review of the spend with Sage in QBR, evaluation of activity success and the submission of evidence of spending to Sage.
- Identification of case study candidates and the development of meaningful questions aligned to the sales and marketing strategy to generate value added content.
- Lead and manage the marketing team (currently one Executive) including recruitment and onboarding, defining personal objectives, evaluation of output, conducting 1-2-1s, annual appraisals and personal and professional development through feedback, coaching and PDPs.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience required
- Proven marketing experience in a B2B commercial environment ideally gained in business or software services.
- Demonstratable experience in the execution of a commercially aligned marketing plan that delivers growth and ROI.
- Strong digital marketing skills as well as a broader marketing skill set.
- Proven experience of writing compelling digital content.
- Sound understanding of marketing automation, CRM software and working with third party platforms.
- Commercial mindset and able to determine and manage budgets effectively.
- Highly proficient with online marketing and social media; including the use of relevant analytic tools.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Experience of managing, coaching and developing a successful team would be advantageous.
